About ArduSat

Currently, space exploration and space science are restricted to government organizations, wealthy institutions, and other organizations that can overcome the huge technical, financial, and legal barriers to putting an object in space. However, thanks to advances in standardized CubeSat technology, ride-along launch agreements for nanosatellites, and crowd-funding platforms like Kickstarter, it’s becoming possible for private citizens to get together, launch a satellite, and directly take part in space science and exploration.

The goal of the ArduSat project, which is not for profit, is to create an open, accessible satellite that anyone in the general public can use to run their own custom-designed experiments, take pictures on-demand, design and run their own games in space, and more. We want to get you into space! Thanks to the tremendous, generous support we received from our backers during our Kickstarter campaign, ArduSat is now funded and is expected to be ready in 2013 for the first open-source space experiments!
